IPG President at the Meeting with the Ambassador of Switzerland to Ukraine
Last week in Kyiv was held a meeting with the new Ambassador of Switzerland - Guillaume Shoyrer and young leaders of civil society, among whom was the president of the NGO "Institute of Politics and Governance" Victoria Vdovychenko.
At the meeting, Ms. Victoria presented the NGO, spoke about its vision, goals, and objectives and received a response from the Ambassador about the burning issues of public administration and development of our country.
Among the guests at the event were representatives of the Institute of Political Education, Ukrainian School of Political Studies and schools and representatives of Bogdan Hawrylyshyn Foundation.
When the Ambassador get acquainted with the participants of the meeting and heard their questions, as an answer Mr. Guillaume Shoyrer provided following proposals and comments:
-
- Deputies should not be isolated, "gods" who live somewhere high in Verkhovna Rada. In Switzerland, they manage this problem in such way, that deputy has the main occupation, (each of them has their profession: doctor, engineer, programmer) and face the problems of society every day.
- To educate the young generations and to form the political elite, it is possible to create a Youth Parliament in places, where the new generation can practice the art of debate, to hear the opponent and to learn how to find a compromise. In future, these people may become deputies of local councils and Verkhovna Rada.
- Decentralization - an important, difficult but possible. You can take a look at the experience of France, where everything had always been subordinated to the center - Paris, but now the government decentralized.
- The division of responsibilities and duties must be at the municipal level: "Every problem should be solved at the lowest possible level".
